So, of course, the festive SZN is now in full swing, Christmas day is tomorrow and New Year's Eve is around the corner. Here are our top picks to add a lil festive kick to your bevvies this holiday season:

 

Hennessy Sangria

The Party Starter: Henny Sangria

Why we love this? They say hennything is possible, this one is a great alternative to punch, tastes sweet and is sure to get the party started. You can warm it up too if you're feeling extra spicy.

You need:

  • 12.5oz Hennessy (375 ml bottle)
  • 9oz red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon or a similar dark red)
  • 4oz Fresh mango juice
  • 4oz cranberry juice
  • 2oz peach schnapps
  • Garnish: Orange wheels, raspberries, blackberries, and peach slices

Preparation:

Mix everything together in advance to marinate and lock in the flavor, except the Hennessy. When ready fill with ice, pour the Hennessy, mix it up and enjoy. Source: Hennessy.

For the gym bunnies who want to join in on the fun, but also keep those 2020 body goals in mind, why not add a twist to this low-calorie fave? 

You need: 

  • 2 ounces gin
  • 2 ounces of coconut water
  • 2 ounces tonic water
  • 1-2 Tbsp lime/lemon juice
  • Fresh mint or basil to garnish
  • Sugar/salt for the glass rim (optional)

Preparation:

Add ice to a serving glass and top with lime juice, gin, tonic water, and coconut water. Stir and garnish with fresh mint or basil (optional). Multiply the number of ingredients per person, or simply repeat recipe for more drinks. Source: Minimalist  Baker.

 

 Hot Spiced Buttered Rum

The Winter Warmer: Hot Spiced Buttered Rum

Forget mulled wine! This winter warmer is spicy, flavorsome and festive. Surprise your friends and family with a little something different this holiday season.

You need:

  • 60g unsalted butter softened
  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • 700ml unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 120ml Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
  • 4 long cinnamon sticks

Preparation:

Mix the butter with the sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg until thoroughly combined. Warm the pineapple juice in a medium saucepan until very hot, but not boiling. Remove from the heat and whisk in spiced butter until combined. Divide the rum between 4 heatproof glasses, pour over the pineapple juice and add a cinnamon stick into each one to use as a swizzle stick. Serve. Source: The Food Network.

 Baileys Hot Chocolate

 

The Night Cap: Baileys And Hot Chocolate

What says festive drinks more than a Baileys Hot Chocolate? This is the perfect wind-down drink over the chilled winter period.

You need:

  • 100g white chocolate
  • 250ml milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 50ml Baileys Original Irish Cream
  • 2 tbsp salted caramel sauce
  • Whipped cream

Preparation:

Add the chocolate, milk and vanilla to a saucepan over low heat until all the chocolate is melted and mixed well. Take off the heat and add the Baileys, stir well. Garnish a mason jar with a biscuit rim, using honey. Add the salted caramel sauce as a base and carefully pour in the hot chocolate to cover. Top with marshmallows (toasted), whipped cream, more white chocolate pieces, white chocolate cookies, caramel pieces and drizzled a salted caramel sauce. Source: Cooking TV.
